Best Practices for Connecting
Reference Your Match Reason
"Hi Sarah! I noticed you're skilled in Data Analysis - that's exactly what I'm trying to learn. Would you be open to a quick chat about your experience?"
Mention Shared Communities
"I see we're both members of the Pacific Health Network. I've been following the discussions there and would love to connect with fellow members."
Offer Value First
"I noticed you're interested in learning Project Management - I have some resources that helped me when I was starting out. Happy to share!"
Avoid Generic Messages
Don't just say "Hi, let's connect!" - Take a moment to personalize your message based on what you see in their profile or match reasons.
💡 Pro Tip: Start with Events
If you're nervous about reaching out cold, check if your suggested connection is attending any upcoming events. Meeting in a group setting first can make one-on-one connections feel more natural.
