Event Networking
Make the most of community events by getting recommendations for who to meet before, during, and after. The Event Networking feature helps you connect with the right attendees to maximize your networking opportunities.
Pre-Event Networking
Before attending an event, use the networking tools to prepare:
🎫Who's Attending
See other registered attendees before the event
When you register for an event, you can view other attendees (if they've allowed their attendance to be visible). The system automatically suggests who you should meet based on:
Shared Learning Goals
Attendees who can teach what you want to learn
Common Interests
People who share your interests and passions
Complementary Skills
Potential collaborators with skills you need
Same Region
Local connections for ongoing collaboration
How to Use Pre-Event Suggestions
- 1
Register for the Event
Sign up for an upcoming event in your community. Your registration triggers the networking recommendations.
- 2
Check "Suggested Attendees"
View the Event Networking section in your dashboard, or look for "Who to Meet" on the event details page.
- 3
Reach Out Before the Event
Send a message to introduce yourself. Mention you'll both be at the event and suggest meeting in person.
- 4
Plan Your Networking Goals
Pick 3-5 people you definitely want to meet. Having a plan helps you make the most of limited event time.
Event Networking Card
For each upcoming event, you'll see a networking card with recommended attendees:

During the Event
Tips for making connections during live events:
Virtual Events
- • Use the chat to introduce yourself to suggested connections
- • Request to be placed in breakout rooms together
- • Send a direct message during networking breaks
- • Exchange contact info for post-event follow-up
- • Turn on your camera to make a personal impression
In-Person Events
- • Look for suggested connections at registration
- • Reference something from their profile: "I saw you work on..."
- • Sit near people you want to meet during sessions
- • Use meal breaks for deeper conversations
- • Take a photo together to remember the connection
Post-Event Follow-Up
The connection doesn't end when the event does:
Within 24 Hours
Send a follow-up message to everyone you met. Reference something specific from your conversation to personalize it.
Within One Week
Schedule a follow-up call or meeting with your most promising connections. This is when you can discuss collaboration opportunities.
Within One Month
Check in with your new connections. Share relevant resources, invite them to other events, or simply maintain the relationship.
🎯 Quality Over Quantity
It's better to have meaningful conversations with 3-5 people than to collect business cards from 20. Focus on making real connections with people you can genuinely help or learn from.
Privacy Settings for Events
You control how visible you are to other attendees:
Fully Visible
Other attendees can see your profile and that you're attending
Name Only
Only your name is visible; others must request to see more
Hidden
You're not visible in attendee lists (no networking suggestions)
Note: If you choose to be hidden, you won't receive networking suggestions for events either. We recommend staying visible to maximize the networking benefits of events.
